Johnny and Kevin in the Studio – No Excuses
My good friend Kevin Horton and I are getting ready to do some work on a few new songs and decided to warm up with a few cover songs to get everything set up correctly. We had a couple of video cameras rolling and decided to release a few of these covers for your viewing pleasure! This one is just Kev and I, but stay tuned for the next video as you never know who will be dropping by Big Noise Studios!
Quiet Riot (and numerous other 80′s bands)
I was just perusing the web and saw a story saying that Quiet Riot was still together. Interested, I checked it out. Now, the only original member is Frankie Banali. Why do that? Why do bands cling so much to a name from decades ago?
I mean, I know why…they think that is the only way they can draw a crowd…name recognition. And I suppose that is true to a certain degree. What I can’t believe, though, is that someone like Frankie B. doesn’t have enough faith in his ability to put together something new under a different name and have the same kind of success.
To me that is very sad.
Frankie is a killer drummer, and deserves more from himself than simply being a QR tribute band. Same with the guys in Ratt, LA Guns, etc. If you lose most of the original members than move on, start something more killer and begin again. It’s ok if I don’t hear Metal Health again. I still have the original and I can rock out to it anytime I want to. Make me some new music that makes me forget about that.
Man I get wise as I get old…
Some Priest anyone?
Here is an old take of HELL BENT FOR LEATHER off of my D.O.A. cd that was given away to members of my fanclub many years ago. It features my good friend Scot Goacher on drums. If you are looking for great drum tracks, check him out at www.rockdrumtracks.com!
It’s metal time again!
I’ve been working on some acoustic stuff for a while, spending a lot of time playing on my new Wechter I got for Christmas, but it’s time to get back to business. I’ve been talking with several different people and bands and looking for the right situation to begin the next musical journey, and I think things are getting close. Stay tuned for more info on that.
In the meantime, I’ve also been recording with my good friend, drummer Kevin Horton, which has been a blast. We have recorded a couple of covers which are almost finished and then will be unveiling a brand new Johnny Lokke song! Louis Beck (Warlock, Limousine) will be assisting us with some amazing guitar work, and hopefully Kevin Streeter (Dreemwitch) can find some time to lay down some guitar tracks as well.
In the meantime, I found some old cover songs I have done with other folks over time. Here is an old Corrosion of Conformity one that I provided vocals for. I can’t remember who did the music, but it was a nice guy based out of Kansas City. It was a fun quick demo. Enjoy.
Leatherwolf (or “Back to the Future”)

I have added a couple of demos I did for the band Leatherwolf a few years ago to the player on the right. I love those guys. They are the songs “Disconnected” and “Behind the Gun”. Both of those songs ended up on their cd “World Asylum”.
On Top – Top Heavy

My friends at Clawhammer PR firm let me check out a band the other day called “On Top”. They have a new release called “Top Heavy” and I thought I would let you all know about it as it is pretty cool. It’s a raw, old-school cd that sounds like it could have come straight out of 1984, but still sounding modern at the same time. It reminds me as a cross between Mama’s Boys and Motorhead…loud, aggressive and rude. Some tasty guitar work to boot. Anyway, check ‘em out at their bandcamp site.
Internet Explorer
If you are viewing this page in Internet Explorer than some things may not look quite right (like the CDBaby widget in the sidebar) and I apologize for that. I would suggest using a browser like Chrome or Firefox. Even if my site looked correct in IE I would still suggest that, but that’s another story…
Welcome metalheads!
It’s 2012 and time for the website to get another major overhaul! I both love and hate to do it, but it needed to be done. Hopefully this version will be easier for you guys to use and easier for me to keep updated. If you notice things looking strange over the next few days it’s just because I’m behind the scenes messing with it, but in short order things should be up and running smoothly! Keep your fingers crossed!
